Bruno Surace

Bruno asked me to film him there. We made videos and photographs with one rule: capture his boxing as naturally, as rawly and as authentically as possible. His charisma, his power, his technique, his speed, exactly as they are.

Nothing could change his boxing, so I changed nothing around him. No artificial light. No staging. I asked Bruno to train exactly as he always does, as if I weren’t there, and I stayed one more presence in the room. The old-school look of the gym and the light already in it gave me everything I needed.

This work led Atelier Jacques Bianchi to call me for Upwell Diver.
